It is not enough for tech employees to be familiar with creating websites. They need to know how to develop apps and ensure a site can show up properly on a mobile screen. While it is not necessary, many tech companies are delving into augmented reality, so any expertise in that field will certainly be a huge benefit.

While in college, it may work to a programmer’s advantage to take at least one marketing class that focuses on digital advertising. Many companies are becoming more data-minded, and they want people who know how to experiment, measure and test data. Additionally, if you are familiar with SEO skills, then you can better market yourself on your resume because you understand some employers may use an applicant tracking system to scan through applications.

The general public is becoming more aware of just how much data tech companies have on them. As a result, any time a company loses or compromises that information, it makes headlines. Employers want to be certain they have people on their teams who understand how to keep data safe.

AI has quickly become one of the most exciting fields in the tech industry. While most people’s experience with AI involves talking to Siri on an iPhone, there are other ways to incorporate it. It can be applied to finance, education and healthcare fields, so the possibilities are truly endless. Across the board, the most in demand tech skills include familiar with various programming languages. The most common programming languages you already need to know how to use include:
