Blographics’ 9 steps Tutorial

Google Buzz

“Graphic design is a popular art and a practical art, an applied art and an ancient art. Simply put, it is the art of visualizing ideas.” – Jessica Helfand

There are a lot of ways and means on how to conceptualize a graphic design, hence, its  graphic software are numerous. Not to mention that you have the option to choose what will fit your preferences and your needs while doing such. To name some, it can be from the different products of Adobe or Corel.

Today, I just want to share to you an idea from a very brilliant mind about the 9-step tutorial that can be done using Corel.

Okay, I am already running out of intros here, so may I present the tutorial from Mr. Eli of  Blographics.

This is on how to draw the “SUN” in the Philippine Flag.

Before we start, let us first check our final output…

It is easy to create simple shapes in Corel Draw because of its built-in tools for creating circles, ellipses,  squares,  rectangles and polygons. These simple shapes can be use for creating complex shapes.

This tutorial will show you how to: (1) create perfect circle; (2) use polygon tool; (3) trim objects; (4) rotate objects; and (5) weld several shapes into one.

  1. Click the Ellipse tool, drag it diagonally while holding down the CTRL key to draw a perfect circle. In this tutorial we will use a circle with 4 inches diameter. You can specify the diameter on the property bar’s object size box.
    1

  2. Using the pick tool, click on the circle for you to determine its center. Now, set the guidelines to the center of the object by simply click-and-drag down from the ruler at the top to create a horizontal guideline and click-and-drag from the ruler at the left to create a vertical guideline.
    2
  3. Click on polygon tool (a), set 5 sides (b), drag and position it above the circle and specify its size (c). The position should look like the image below.
    3

  4. Click on the rectangle tool, drag downward to created a vertical rectangle (0.1 in x 2.6 in). Rotate it (or about 11 degrees). . Btw, you’re not required to work on exact measurements, I have just specify them to serve as a guide or for us to come up with a uniform result.
    4

  5. Press ctrl+D to duplicate. Select the two rectangles, press “T” (to align top), press CTRL + G to group the object and position it like to the center (vertically) of the polygon.
    5

  6. Now we’re ready to trim the polygon. To trim, (a) select the source object, (b) hold down Shift and click the target object (the polygon) and (c) go to Arrange > Shaping > Trim or simply click on trim icon on the property bar.
    6

  7. Double click on the polygon to get the rotation arrows. Move the center of revolution to the center of the circle. The center of revolution is a small circle with a dot in it. It will originally show up in the center of the polygon. You can click-and-drag it into place.
    7

  8. With the object polygon still selected, choose ARRANGE > TRANSFORMATIONS > ROTATE. A dialog box will appear. On the angle box type 45 ( 360 degrees (that is 1 revolution) /8 rays = 45). Then click APPLY TO DUPLICATE seven times.
    8

  9. Click-and-drag a marquee around all of the shapes to select all of the objects. Go to ARRANGE > SHAPING > WELD or simply click on the weld icon on property bar and … that’s it!

Discover Cooliris

Google Buzz

Its been a while that I am planning and searching something to make use as a portfolio showcase, there are a lot of ways and other approach to create a portfolio available from the net.

Anyway, what I want to convey with this post is to make use the Cooliris Embed Wall and discover more potential of Cooliris.

The Cooliris Embed Wall is an embeddable 3D wall that gives users the Cooliris media experience within a web page, without requiring the Cooliris plugin. The embeddable wall requires users to have Adobe Flash (version 9 or later) installed.

Embedding is not difficult as figuring the mystery of 911, or thinking how this planet handles life, its only requires you a 1, 2, 3 or 5 steps to do it.

Take a look at the sample that I made use on my Design Wall page.

I cannot provide you more details and info on how to do it, because I myself is in the process of understanding every single line of codes to use.

Her First Time…

Google Buzz

Breanne Harriette is my 2-year old daughter.

She loves to stay and pose in front of the lens and flash.

Lately, she was able to experience being  a flower girl.

This is her first time actually.

I just loved her picture that I can’t stop myself doing additional effects on it.

I have done some of the techniques that I saw and learned from the image inspiration I recently posted here. PBA09906rrr3

Featured Artist: Justin Van Genderen

Google Buzz

Digital art and design has so many mystic illusions that tickles our mind to visualize a certain object more than what you can perceive in your naked eye. Truly, this type of expertise cannot be acquired only by our human mind but it is being enhanced for a span of time before you can ever make a very exquisite output.

Well, I’ve been sneaking to various websites and blogs of so many designers, until my attention was caught by two write-ups which featured one artist.

I became interested with his crafts then fortunately I came across his portfolio page. I was able to view all his workmanship, and I can guarantee you that they are truly amazing. Something that can serve as an inspiration to all pro & amateurs.

Then, I sent an email to this artist and asked permission if I can use some of his crafts for me to post and feature here. Well luckily he answered YES.

Presenting Justin Van Genderen’s artwork with his very superb designs.
