Sency for Cities Shows You Hot Places

Real time search engine Sency got its start focused on chatter. Since its launch in September of last year, It helped users to easily discover what was being said and which links were being shared.

In an effort to differentiate and better focus its offering, 6 months ago Sency entered the GEO space. Sency begun allowing users to search what’s being said right now inside of the 14 major cities it covered. It then extended its offering to 24 major US cites and 8 international cities. The title of the city initiative was conveniently called, Sency for Cities.

Sency for Cities made perhaps its most important launch 2 months back when it launched Places Trends. The places trends show the user 10 popular places now, and 10 popular places lately, in each of the 32 cities it covers. These places trends now update every 4 hours giving users fresher results in regards to what places are popular right now. There is also a Twitter feed allowing users to get updates in their Twitter timeline when a place becomes popular in the city that they live in.

Sency has worked hard to curate these Places trends in an effort to ensure airports, Starbucks, and train stations don’t show up in its trends…
