Don’t commit these 10 visual web design mistakes!

We mostly come across the bad web design than the good ones while surfing the internet. If you come across a poor web design with equally poor layout, you are not at all motivated to come back for more or bookmark it. Chances are that you are going to leave those websites forever and never turn back again. A bad visual web design can literally turn the tables the wrong way and we can say that they can be the prominent game changers too.

Here are the top 10 mistakes that you must avoid in order to ensure that the same visual web design mistakes are never committed.

Use of bad fonts

Make sure that you are using fonts that are easy to read. Using fancy fonts for displaying text content on the page will lead to confusion as the readers won’t be able to read anything.

No images, only text

Even though you are providing complete information in the form of text, readers are still going to miss relevant images. No one is interested in reading through the ocean of words like article. Remember, you are developing pages for the internet and not for a personal development book.

Long articles minus paragraph breaks

Breaking the paragraph is like offering your reader some time to take a sigh of relief. Don’t scare them right away. Reading a really long article without any paragraph break is going to sound really confusing. Implementing paragraph breaks should make it easier for your readers to read through and grasp the content easily.

Really tiny font size

If the readers are required to zoom in to read the contents on your page then there is something wrong with the use of fonts. Make sure that the body text is readable; if not then readers are soon going to tune out with annoyance.

Usage of heavy flash

Adding flash is going to contribute to the visual perception on your website but use of too many flash elements is going to cause your website to load slowly. As a result, visitors are going to leave quicker than you expected them to. At times, flash is enough to sound annoying and waste time.

Body content on multi-color background

Having colors on your page is good but if it affects readability, beware! If you feel it is intended to make it nicer and it does, you are probably wrong. Background images should sync with proper readability else better avoid using them or use them elsewhere.

Too many advertisements

Lot of advertisements is going to kill the entire feel of your website. Users are likely to get annoyed and navigate to some other website page. Make sure that you are not prioritizing advertisement over website content. Placement of advertisements should be decent and it should not be affecting the main content on the websites.

Annoying pop-ups

Get rid of them or else your website is going to suffer. Websites with unstoppable pop-ups prevents you from seeking information. Lot of people simply hate pop-ups and can’t stand them!

Too long content or articles

Long articles are usually not read completely and in a lot of cases, users simply skip. Make sure that you have added some appealing images so that it can be made to look attractive rather than just plain simple use of text. Make it simple and try to keep it short.

Links color not clearly visible

Color of the link should be different from the body text color so that it can be identified and read. They should be able to identify the links they have already visited.

Everything gets right when the approach is good. Keep in mind that the aesthetics in web design count equally or even more. Keep the above mentioned points in mind and you are surely going to excel!
