Photography is an art of generating motionless photographs by passing light rays of images on radiation-sensitive film. Generally ultraviolet rays are used to impress the images on the film surface. Light is used to increase the depth of the image clarity. When one presses the button of a camera upon focusing the image, a very small shutter like structure in the camera open up and shut down very fast.  The image is left on the light-sensitive film and so the image is captured on the film. The film capturing the image is called the negative. This negative image is processed and so converted to positive, and this positive image is developed and is then printed out.

Both film and digital methods are used in photography, as well as many types of cameras, such as single lens reflex (SLR), digital single lens reflex (DSLR), point and shoot cameras, and others. These cameras varied not only by their price, but also in their shutter speed, opening types, the speed of the films, and focus points, and also the equipment used.

Photography is used in many ways; forms for the government needs passport size photographs to apply for government services, school, college admissions and other services.

Photography is commonly used to make special occasions, such as weddings, births, birthdays and parties.  A camera is perhaps one of the most important things to take with you when going on an exciting trip.

In the field of movies, photography plays a great role in assessing whether an auditioning actor’s look may be right for a movie, and photography is considered to be the backbone of the modeling field. Many fashion related magazines need thousands of photographs of male and female models to be taken.

News agencies and newspapers also are in need of constant photography services, and many employ their own photographers to seek out images of famous people or ongoing events.

Not only is photography useful in entertainment and news related businesses, but also inevitable used in scientific research fields. Satellites have been sent by many countries to photograph the images and events of the planets of our solar system.  The basic principles of photography are being used to map our galaxy and beyond.

Photography is an ever-growing industry and therefore the photographic field has great career opportunities for those interested and engaged in it.
