5 Ways to Turn a Print Design into a Fundraising Opportunity

    Categories: Articles

Fundraising for charity is a worthwhile philanthropic activity. Some people organize long distance bikes rides for their chosen charity; others prefer to hold community events and encourage everyone around them to get involved. There really is no limit to the things you can do to raise money for a good cause, but if you (or the people around you) have artistic leanings, it makes sense to use your designs in your fundraising venture. So what are the options?

Calendars

Calendars are a very popular way of raising money for charity. Charities large and small produce calendars to sell to their members, family and friends, and anyone else who wants to buy one – they can be produced fairly cheaply and they always sell well. In recent years stripping off for charity calendars has been enormously popular, but if you don’t want to expose your body parts in the name of charity, why not produce some artistic designs and use these instead?

Tea Towels

Tea towels are a useful accessory and most kitchens have at least five. Tea towels are a cheap and cheerful vehicle for artwork if you are looking to produce fundraising merchandise. They are a good way for schools to raise money for various causes – even very young children can produce hand and foot prints, which look great when printed on to fabric tea towels.

Mugs

Printed designs and photographs can easily be transferred on to mugs and marketed to raise money for charity. Any design will do, as long as it is reasonably small, but photographs are particularly well suited to mugs.

Greetings Cards

Greetings cards always sell well and you don’t need to be fabulously artistic to produce good designs. Anyone can create a great design for a greetings card. Seasonal designs are popular, especially Christmas cards, and if you have children and want to get them involved in fundraising for a worthy charity, ask them to produce some drawings or paintings. These can then be passed to a greetings card company and transformed into cute cards to sell. If you like the sound of this type of fundraising activity, contact IQ cards for more information.

T-Shirts and Sweatshirts

Fancy seeing your cool designs printed on a t-shirt or sweatshirt? It isn’t difficult to have print designs transferred to t-shirts, sweatshirts and other garments. There are lots of companies providing this service and it’s a great way to raise money for charity. You can produce as many different designs as you like, or even just a logo and some text. As long as the basic garment is of good quality, the end result will be attractive and easy to sell, which will help raise lots of money for charity.
If you plan on using printed designs for charity merchandise, it is a good idea to produce several different designs in case you don’t like the end result when a proof is produced for your approval. And if you are including text in the design, make sure you check it thoroughly for typos before you approve the final design.
