The Star Wars franchise has had a long-standing relationship with Lego, producing countless official building kits, assorted toys, video game titles and more. Official partnership aside, what happens when fans of the Star Wars series take it upon themselves to re-create their favorite characters, vehicles and movie scenes from the Star Wars franchise?

Check out these Star Wars scenes re-created using only Lego, imagination and lots of free time!

1. AT-AT Scene

Costing $3,000 and taking hundreds of hours to complete, this fantastically detailed scene eventually won first place in a Star Wars-Lego contest and ended up being featured in the official Lego magazine.

2. Snow Mountain Base Assault

This Lego scene, built by renowned Lego sculptor Mark Borlase, depicts a memorable battle from the movie series and offers unforgettable details, right down to Luke Skywalker’s footprints in the snow and windows peering into the hidden base.

3. Ship Scene

This amazing creation features more than 60,000 Lego pieces, over 50 working lights, opening hangar doors and a remote controlled fleet of troops able to be deployed directly from the ship.

4. Death Star Docking Bay Scene

Constructed by German Lego artist David Wagner, this massive creation depicts the Death Star docking bay scene from Star Wars: Episode IV. The Millenium Falcon sits in docking bay 327 as LED lighting casts a realistic glow over the unfolding events; measuring 90 cm x 100 cm and constructed of more than 10,000 Lego bricks, this work of art took several years to complete.

5. Yoda on the Attack

This Lego sculpture may be far more simple in essence than the others we’ve looked at here but its effect is no less potent! Yoda leaps, swinging his lightsaber, with added Lego pieces creating the illusion of actual movement.

6. Luke Skywalker Minifig

Taking Star Wars fandom and Lego enthusiasm to a whole new level, one man decided that sculpting from Lego simply wasn’t enough; he decided to sculpt his very own Lego bricks.

Using well-honed sculpting abilities, he created this mini-figure of Luke Skywalker holding a lightsaber; the large-scale figure serves as a 10x rendering with the true mini-figure located on its head, standing next to an American quarter to convey relative scale.

7. Queen Amidala

This full-sized sculpture does an excellent job of depicting Queen Amidala from Star Wars: Episode One, played famously by Natalie Portman.

8. R2D2

Another full-size Star Wars character sculpture, this one of the beloved robot R2D2.

9. Han Solo in Carbonite

A beautifully crafted Lego re-creation of Han Solo while trapped in carbonite after being captured by Cloud City administrator Lando Carlissian and packaged for delivery to Jabba the Hutt.

10. Venator Class Star Destroyer

Well-known Lego brick artist Sylvain Ballivet spent countless hours and used more than 43,000 Lego bricks to construct this 2.44 meter long replica of the Venator Class Star Destroyer seen throughout the Star Wars series.

11. Death Star

The only thing more difficult than building a typical Lego sculpture is building a Lego sculpture of a highly irregular object, and there’s no object more irregular than the Death Star. With its lopsided build and gaping openings, you can imagine the time and effort required to accurately build this beautiful Lego-based re-creation!
